If the world had 100 people, and intro to Chinese culture, geography and history

Today we will try to get a sense of the world we live in by shrinking it down to 100 people, and looking at some surprising numbers.

We will also get organized for 3rd quarter by switching over the binders to the East Asia Unit. I would recommend keeping your papers from first semester, but you can feel free to keep them at home.

Our discussion of last night's homework will help us understand the danger of "positive stereotypes".

We will discuss "Societal and Institutional Differences" between China and the United States (CP p.182).

Finally, we will complete the East Asia Map assignment (CP. 184-186).

For homework:
Carefully read the article "The Chinese Want Their Art Back" and answer the following questions:

  1. What do you learn about China's past from this article?
  2. What do you learn about China in the present from this article?
Please upload your answers to turnitin.com
