We will then look at how Japan responded to the Opium War, and how Japanese isolation ended by reading "U.S. Pressure to End Japanese Isolation." (CP p.208-210)
For homework, read, highlight and annotate "Overview of Early Japanese Imperialism." (CP. p.212-216)
